War on Black

We are now officially in the festive season. Unless you have the Bah humbug spirit then you have been busily decorating the house with Christmas trees, flashing lights and colourful ornaments. Impressed with your efforts now it's time to check out what you will be wearing this Silly Season???
Now black does have it's place in society, like funerals and black and white balls, but let me remind you that black does not suit everyone!!Black is not even a colour but so often we rely on it to look smart and elegant. Black is safe and boring!!!!
Black is not always slimming, dressing in colour will make you look younger and slimmer too! Most of my clients who wore black on a regular basis confessed that they felt like they were unnoticed and looked bland.Black can age you, highlight wrinkles and make those small bags under your eyes morph into luggage!
Girls and Guys please embrace colour into your world, I beg of you.Finding your darkest colour in your swatch like chocolate, french navy, charcoal or even a forrest green can be just as flattering but definitely not cliche.Psychologists have proven that Colour is the first thing that people notice about you, so wearing colour will make you happy and it will have either a positive or negative affect on those around you.Be mindful next time you grab that little black number thinking that is your only option. STOP!
Introducing colour will change your world and the way you look forever.Think about these colours just for a change, I dare you!!!Of course you have to consider the temperatures of these colours being Cool or Warm, but do yourself a favour and step out your comfort zone, you will be pleasantly surprised.Colours for blondes try deep bues, greys and charcoals.Colours dark brown try some yummy hues of chocolate, rich greens and vibrant purples.Colours for red heads, gorgeous teals and periwinkles.Colours for mid browns or dark blondes look for watermelon reds and pretty pinks. You can experiment wearing colour with colour rather than colour with black...
Let me know how you go, I would love to hear your reports because I know they will be amazing and colourful.STYLEDGE, Why look good when you can look Great!

Signature Style

There are many definitions of style but the one I love the most is "Fashion comes and goes but Style is timeless"

It can take years of experimenting with particular fashions to establish a style which suits us. The reason being is that our style has to be congruent with our lifestyle, age, culture and personality!

The clothes we choose to wear on a daily basis are a reflection of our inner selves.
When we establish our personal style we learn to shop with purpose and discernment. Garments that have hanger appeal will have to pass the style test. Seriously when it comes down to it does the garment speak our language?

Once you discover your own individual style you will never be dictated to by the latest trends or outlandish fashions that bombard us every season. I have said in the past and I will say it again that just because something is in fashion does not mean it’s going to look fashionable on you. Developing your own sense of style is so liberating because you choose what defines you and not what you see currently in the shops or in the latest magazines.

So how do you determine your own style?

Think about styles you have loved and felt great in. Also famous fashion icons, who has influenced you in the way you dress.

Put together a collage of pictures of styles and fashions which appeal to you. This will help you identify your signature style.
